Wheels on!

Really good day yesterday everything went right for a change so that was nice.

We had some old wheels that we had been given a while ago so we're going to use them. Plan is to powder them satin black with some new tyres. Tried them on for fit and they're perfect! exciting to see it with wheels on looks like a real car.

Dad got some really nice braided brake lines made up so we started plumbing them in. Not too bad a job this one just a couple of awkward rivets. We made some ali strips to go down the inside of the tunnel to hold the brake lines, fuel line and wiring loom. Then it was just a case of shaping the copper pipe and remembering to put the connections on before hand. We used p clips with rubber insides to hold the copper pipe and spaced them every 200mm just to be safe for Mr IVA. Got the rears done but didn't have time to do the fronts yet.

Floor On

Nice easy job this one really, we drilled most of the holes before we got it powder coated and it all lined back up once we offered it up. Squirted some black sealant on the chassis, clamped it in place then got riveting. The powder coated chequer plate looks ace too!

Dad got the rear callipers on its looking more and more like a proper car now :)

Floor Made

We had a big sheet of steel that we were going to use for the floor but it wasn't wide enough which turned out for the best because we got a massive sheet of ali chequer plate and it is loads lighter!

We put the chassis on the sheet and marked out the floor.

We tried at first to use a jigsaw but that was useless so we got the grinder out instead. We have added an extra bit on the drivers side to protect the brake master cylinder

We drilled the holes for the rivets to save a job later once we have the floor powder coated and also to make sure we had enough rivets. Rare sight to see our Danny boy doing a bit of work on the car. 

Other jobs we got done today.

Front wishbones and hubs on. The steering and top joints are still loose because we need to set up the camber and steering once the wheels are on.

Got the diff and drive shafts in and bolted up nice.

Charlie boy wants the first drive :)

Seat Back Panel

Productive day today had chance to rivet the seat back panel on and get a few other bits on too :)

Powder coaters have done a good job again all looking great so we set to putting the bits on. This wasnt as hard as i thought it was going to be, fairly straight forward really. Clamp in place, drill the holes into the chassis then put some black tight sealant on to bond it and hopefully stop any rattles then get to riveting.

Definitely best tool we could of got for this job.

All done looks ace and is well solid!

Master cylinder on ready for plumbing in.

Rear wishbones and uprights on with makeshift dummy shocks.

Steering all in and fully bolted! feels nice to finish a job for real :)
