Trial Fit Engine

Put the engine and gearbox in ready to make the mounts. We put the chassis on its side then plonked the engine on the bench and rolled the chassis over onto it seemed to work ok.

Shiny gearbox!

Not the actual prop in this pic lol.

Bushes

These were waiting for me today :) Poly bushes and stainless crush tubes. We ordered orange ones but they look quite red. £60 from eBay should be £100ish from a shop so not too fussed about the colour. Just need some wishbones to use them with now.

Saturday Well Spent

Got lots of little jobs done today.

Pedal box made, the stops on the clutch and accelerator dont work very well at the moment so they need sorting still but other than that it works great!

Tight squeeze in there need some driving shoes or bare feet lol.

Handbrake fitted, nice and simple this one just two plates to hold it on.

Front and rear wishbone brackets on. Front was a bit of a pain the books jig again was a bit naff. The rear ones were easy just a case of measuring from the bottom bar and spacing them correctly.

Took the wiper stalk off we wont need that. Removed the unit from the column and chopped it off. Need to tidy it up a bit but it cant be seen from the drivers seat anyhow :)

Rear Uprights

We have made a start on the rear uprights and decided the books jig was stupid so made our own lol.

More pics soon......

Chassis Update

Things are coming along nicely now. We haven't really followed the book on the steering wheel supports just held them where it felt comfy and didn't hit the chassis then went from there. The back end chassis is almost done just need the tube around the back to support the bodywork. Suspension brackets have been a bit of a pain so far figured out we haven't quite got a couple of the front uprights in the exact right place but we have the wishbone brackets square so that's what matters were planning on some extra support for the brackets as it looks a bit dodgy at the mo.

Bye Bye Sierra (Part 2)

Finally got chance to strip the rest of the sierra.

Little bit safer this time lol.

 Big lump out

Bit scabby but will clean up nice

Clean Diff & Chopped Sump

The diff washer has worked its magic and probably had a bit to do with dad's elbow grease too. Our sierra beast is still coming up trumps too it has a 3.92 diff was expecting a 3.62. Basically the difference been ours is set for more acceleration.... Winner!

Chopped the sump down too following this sites advise Link. Definitely wont be hitting that anytime soon :)
