Fuel Tank

Finished off the tank and got a friend to weld it up for us. Bought a sender unit from eBay.... where else :) £30. We got really lucky as the sender unit was a bit too long for the tank but because of the bottom sump bit we put on we managed to fit it in. To screw the sender on we used rivnuts and drilled the holes a bit bigger but only just so the rivnuts would sit flush on the top of the tank and the rubber of the sender would seal up nicely. We filled it with fuel slightly to wash the crud out and to make sure it flowed ok and it worked perfectly. We strapped it on using a strip of jubilee clip style stuff and put some rubber strip underneath to keep it off the chassis. Then connected the pipes going to the pump and the return from the engine.

Exhaust Manifold

At the moment we are going for a fairly standard exhaust system to get it through the IVA test then look at a 4 branch full stainless system after that when we don't have to worry too much about emissions and noise. Bought this from eBay for £25 :)

Air Filters, Dash Update & Speedo

Had a couple of good deliveries through this weekend.

We were looking into buying a sausage style filter from pipercross but it was around £90 inc the back plate. I found these little beauties on my favourite site eBay and the cost £11 for all 4!
All been well we wont have to chop the bonnet as these will fit inside

Dash is coming along nicely still needs a bit more fiddling but will finish up lovely.

Thought we might as well chance this from China for £35 delivered and see what if anything arrived. Amazingly it arrived fairly quickly and so far works great.
Once again another eBay bargain :-)

Dashboard

We got hold of a load of fibreglass to have a go at making a dash. First we made a mould using a piece of MDF and cardboard lol. we then polished the life out of it and applied the black top coat. We let that sit for a while until it was tacky to touch then we set about putting the sheets of fibreglass and resin on. For a first attempt it is very good but I think it will probably want either painting or wrapping but so far it has cost nothing so that's always good.
